The By-Election
On 1st May 2025 there will be a by-election for the Runcorn & Helsby parliamentary constituency. The new MP will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mike Amesbury.
Unlike a general election, this by-election will only select an MP for this constituency. 1st May will also see council elections in other parts of the country. After this election the UK will still have a Labour government and this constituency will still be split between two Labour-controlled councils, Halton and Cheshire West & Chester.
